“Not so normal Youth group 2020”

What a crazy year we have had to date. We finished off 2019 well and had what was one of our best seasons in youth ministry. We had great energy and excitement for what was planned to be our best year yet. Hello Covid-19 and a Pandemic…

We quickly found ourselves familiarising ourselves with restrictions and rules that would change not only how we worship on a Sunday but all aspects of church life and that included Friday night Youth. We had to think outside to box and stretch our traditional go to options for interaction and communication.

We are very blessed to have an amazing core group of youth, leaders and church leaders that stuck it out and faithfully served through this crazy time. We had weekly bible studies and weekly youth activities via zoom and kept in contact via phone, email, Facebook chats and anything that kept us all in conversation and relationship. We took youth back to basics We focused on our own relationship with God “you” our youth group/church “Us” and “Them “ our community and the lost and our mission to love Two Wells and surrounding areas as Jesus does.

With COVID restrictions easing we have been able to start outworking some of what we had discussed during our bible studies and one topic was unity in the body of Christ. We had the opportunity to gather for United We Stand hosted by Youth Alive Held at Encounter Church Gawler and more recently Ignite Conference Hosted by local churches in Balaklava and held at Horizon Christian School. Both of these events were a great outreach opportunity and for our youth to connect with other youth groups across our region. Our youth have realised we are better together and if we want to see our churches, schools and communities impacted for Christ then doing it unified will have a grater impact.

We are excited with what is happening with our youth in two wells and encourage your youth to take advantage of any opportunity to gather and build your communities. We also continue to pray for those youth groups, churches and communities unable to have the same freedoms for gather and worship as we do in SA. We are praying for you also!!
